My Tags for the Twlight Swap (Team:Jacob) at mamascrapper69.blogspot.com

Yea, they are all done and ready to ship tomorrow! This was my first tag swap and I loved it. Let me know what you think? I had to use two different charms because I could not find enough motorcycles. So they have a motorcycle or a helmet.

Tomorrow I will post pics from the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes 2010. My middle son Cole has Juvenile Diabetes and it has really been rough on him since he was diagnosed on April 18, 2008. It was a beautiful day for the walk and we had a BLAST as we do at every walk. There were over 10,000 walkers!! Way to go, lets raise the money to FIND the CURE, so no one will have to suffer.

Have a GREAT DAY!

Sister's Birthday Card (she is a flower child)

This is my first time using prism colored pencils and gamsol. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed making this card for my Sister. Hope you like it, she sure did! :)

Money saving Tips: The way I store and carry my SU stamp pads and my cricut roller bag I made

Saving money is big these days and I want to show you two ways I have with crafting.

Now I store my SU stamp pads in Lg Snap Totes, they are $24.99 for a 3 pc set and inside is 3 plastic dividers. I use the 3 plastic dividers and make 3 more out of cardboard and a stripe of white plastic (to make it all match)to make the shelves. They stack perfect on my desk and are very convenient when taking to crops. In the clearance isle at Wal-Mart I bought these luggage straps for $2.00 and I use this to secure all the totes together for safety and to relieve the stress on the latches when carrying them. Remember you can use a 40 to 50 percent off coupon on these. Great savings!! check out the photos.

My cricut roller bag is really a plain roller bag of Elvis Presley (big fan) my hubby found it in a thrift store and it was the perfect size so I sewed in straps with velcro on then to hole the cricut in place. I had the straps they were a bad handle I did not use so I cut it in half and I had the velco. That part was Free and the bag was $15.00 plus tax. Cheap compared to the actual cricut bags that are 40-80 dollars each.

Beautiful Fall Day--Remembering Our Fallen Hero's "THE WALL THAT HEALS"

On October 2, 2010, I woke the kids to get an early start on a beautiful crisp fall day. In Blue Springs Missouri from Sept 30 through Oct 3, 2010, hosted a historical event that was very dear to my heart.

The Wall That Heals this is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It is approximately 250 ft long and like the original Memorial is erected in a chevron-shape. The replica is complete with the names of 58,249 service members who were killed or missing in action from the conflict. When new names are added to the Washington D.C. Memorial the replica is also updated. The trailer that carries The Wall That Heals is a mobile museum when emptied. The sides open up to display photo's of the service members who served, letters left at the Memorial as remembrances and other memorabilia that tell the story of the Vietnam War.

My Grandfather served in the Army during the Vietnam War and did come home with a purple heart. We were one of the lucky families who's family member returned home, but 58,000 + others did not. I felt this was a very import and educational event for my three children to experience and to understand more of what really happened, the effects left behind, how our soldier's were treated and how the world reacted to the conflict. As a person who comes from a very strong military family of all branches and a mother to a young son who has always wanted to be a Marine when he grows up, to protect his country. I really want my children to understand how important it is to respect and honor the service men and women who fight for OUR FREEDOM at all cost! I want them to know that even if we do not understand why or agree with war, we MUST ALWAYS RESPECT, HONOR and LOVE, our SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN who put THEIR LIVES on the line for us everyday without hesitation! Never disrespect ALWAYS love and honor!

I can not explain it but when you see the wall for the first time it is so over-whelming! You have this feeling of great sadness, tears begin falling, respect, love and peace all rolled together. It is truly an experience that everyone should have. I know that I could not afford to take the whole family to D.C. to see the Memorial (which my children-the boys did ask us to do for vacation several times), so to experience the replica was so AWESOME for us! As we walked I told the my kids some stories that my Grandfather told to me, it was a true bonding family day for us. I only wish my husband would have been able to experience this day with us but he had to work.

Enough about us I also want to share some beautiful pictures of the day with you and hope you enjoy them.

God Bless and please pray for Our Servicemen and women to return to their families safely.

Teacher's Appreciation Week May 2010

I am sorry it is taking me so long to post up our work. I will try and get the month of May current.

I forgot to take a picture of the first card that Presley made for Ms E her teacher that she so dearly loves. But it was sooo cute! The card in the pic is another card that she had made and I just put in the teacher quote on the inside and stamped From the Heart on the outside. The inside quote was the same as the quote on the candy bar. I did the water bottle and drink mix holder that went on the water bottle. This was one of her gifts during the week. We also bought a game for the classroom and teacher supplies for Ms E. Presley was able to take a gift each day.

Teacher-Thank You Gifts-JDRF Walk April 2010

These are the gifts I made for the two teacher's (Mrs Bryant and Mrs McKown) who were my sponsor's and helped me get the Diabetes Walk started at our school. They are AWESOME!! Thank you so much for your help and support!

JDRF- Walk to Cure Diabetes School Walk April 17, 2010

My middle son Cole was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes on April 18, 2008 and our world has never been the same. Now it is my mission to do whatever I can to help find the CURE for this horrible disease!

On April 17, 2010 Wellington-Napoleon R-9 school held our first annual school "Walk to Cure Diabetes". Attendance was lower than expected but we had 3 school events that were unexpectedly rescheduled on this morning. Over all we had an awesome turn out of 40 walkers and we were happy with the money raised to help put an end to this devastating auto immune disease that strikes suddenly and can be fatal.

Our school walk was sponsored by Mrs Bryant and FCCLA for the High school and Mrs McKown for the Elementary, JDRF and Cure for Cole. At the time of our walk Wellington had 5 young children in school with T-1 diabetes (now we have 6 children). Our school is a samll country school with only Approx 423 students.

All 5 children attended the walk and started us off toward the cure. The day was beautiful and we enjoyed a variety of music played by Josh Brown. Bottled water was donated by Dave's Country Market and Save-A-Lot of Lexington, Wal-Mart of Richmond, HyVee & Price Chopper of Blue Springs, and ice was donated by the Wellington Lion's Club.

We raised $2221.75 for JDRF and 85% of these funds will go to researching for the cure. JDRF is the only foundation that gives back 85% of all funds raised for research.

Type-1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin, the hormone that enables people to get energy from food. To survive, T-1 diabetics have to test their blood sugar levels 4 or more times daily, by pricking their fingers to draw blood, then they receive insulin by multiple daily injections or by the continuous infusion insulin pump. These children also face the devastating long term effect of this disease which are; blindness, heart attacks, kidney failure, stroke, nerve damage and amputation. T-1 diabetes effects 15,000 children yearly and is the most serious and complicated form of diabetes, that accounts for at least $174 billion in annual health care cost in the US.

Plans are already in motion for our 2nd Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, hope to see you there! One step at a time and we will reach the "CURE" together!

Presley's Valentine Box 2010

I know this is a late post but I could not resist. This is the Valentine candy treat bags and her card box that she just had to have. It was craft lifted from Oriental Trade I believe.

I thought it turned out very cute and she was so excited when she took it to school.
Thanks
Pam and Presley
